The title of this painting refers to Rene Descartes theory of existentialism. It means "I think, therefore I am", and it seems to be exactly what this large male Orang is thinking. These guys sometimes appear to me to be more like us than Gorillas or Chimps. Especially the males which look like wise old Buddhist monks.
